7. Pataleswara Temple Cave Temple:


The Pataleswar cave temple was cut out of a rock sculpture temple built in the 8th century with Rashtrakutas. The temple is dedicated to the worshiped Lord Shiva and is built of basalt stone. Shiva or Linga is depicted in this temple. The temple has a Nandi Mandapam at the temple entrance and is considered a protected monument under the eyes of the state. The Elephanta Caves were the inspiration for the construction of this temple. But, there is no proper entrance to this temple as it is still incomplete.

12. Someswara Temple :

 

      The Someswara Temple is believed to have been built in 1640 by the great Shivaji's daughter Jijabai, and the Shivalinga is believed to be Samba. A golden face of Lord Shiva encircles the Shivalinga in the inner sanctum. Hanuman, one of the Ash Pramans of Shivaji's court, played a vital role in the restoration of the temple. The Samadhi is displayed on the north side of the temple. The temple also has a sabha mandapam. Its ceilings have magnificent carvings created by the famous Mughal general Shahishte Khan in penitence.
