Biography of Mr. Adi Godrej
Adi Godrej, Zoroastrian and Chairman of the Godrej Group. As a teenager, he left India and joined the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Later, he completed his MBA at MIT Sloan School of Management, Cambridge, United States.
After taking over the family business, he made process improvements and modernized management systems. The Godrej Group has experienced phenomenal growth. Godrej Group is a major supporter of World Wildlife Fund India. It has set up a green business campus in Vikhroli, Mumbai. It has 150 acres of mangroves and a school for the employees' children.
Adi Godrej played an important role in the development of many industries by leading key institutions of trade and commerce. He is former Chairman and President of Indian Soap and Toilets Manufacturers Association, Central Organization for Oil Industry and Trade and Solvent Extractors Association of India, Compound Livestock Feeds Manufacturers Association, Indo-American Society. Governing Board of the National Council of the Confederation of Indian Industry.
Adi Godrej is also active in the field of management education. He is the former Chairman of the Governing Council of the Nursi Monzi Institute of Management Studies, and he is a member of both the Dean's Advisory Council of the MIT Sloan School of Management and the Wharton Asian Executive Board. Adi is a member of Tau Beta Pi and serves on the governing board of the Indian School of Business.
Godrej Group has provided maximum products to various market segments viz. Godrej Hair Color has 40% market share.
Adi learned middle-class values from his mother, who was a school teacher, and taught him the important lesson of humility.
