Assam is often called the land of many cultures. As different tribes celebrate their festivals each year, there is a succession of festivals. This article provides a list of some of the famous festivals and fairs celebrated in Assam

1. Karam Puja, Assam:

Karam Puja, the most important festival for the Tea Tribes of Assam, is meant to appease the "Mother Earth" deities. It is usually celebrated on the night of Bhado Ekadashi in August, which is usually in the middle of August. It is mainly an agricultural festival. They believe that they will receive bumper crops and their family will be freed from God's evils by receiving the blessings of "Karam".


2. Ronkar & Chomangkan Festivals:

Roger is an important festival in Assam. It is an annual spring festival in the state. The tribe called Karbis who celebrate this festival should be seen. These celebrations take place in April. It happens around the time of Baisakhi. To celebrate Rongali Bihu, tribals unite. Karbis are one of the most important tribal groups in Northeast India. They are usually found in Karbi Anglong area. In North Cachar, they are also found in places like Nagon and Kamrup.


3. Jonbeel Mela:

Jonbeel Mela, the main Assam fair, is one of its main attractions. It dates back to the 15th century AD. Ahom kings organized these meals many centuries ago to discuss the current political situation. The most important is the Zonbeel Mela, the only fair where the barter system still exists. It is 30 km from the state capital Guwahati. It is a 3 day community fair held on the occasion of Magh Bihu.


4. Baishagu Festival:

An important festival in Assam, Baishagu is celebrated by the Bodo tribe. It takes place in mid-April. It happens during Baisakhi. The largest group of Scheduled Tribes in Assam are the Bodos, the Bodos. They are found in Kokrajhar and Bongaigaon and Chirang districts of Lower Assam.


5. Bare Saharia Bhaona:

Bear Saharia Bhona can be celebrated only in Assam. It is a traditional pastime for local people. Mahapurusha Shankaradeva introduced this entertainment. Bare Saharia Bhona is a traditional medium that conveys religious and moral messages to villagers through entertainment. It is primarily about the victory of good over evil through the grace of God. Mythological characters, kings and queens, demons and gods, as well as soldiers are all part of the play.


6. Majuli Festival of Assam:


Majuli is an Indian festival celebrated only in Assam. The festival takes place on the banks of the Luit River in Majuli. The Luit River is the source of the largest river island in the world. This festival is held every year. It takes place within 1.5 km radius of Garamur (Majuli capital). It will last for four days from November 21 to 24.


7. Assam Tea Festival:

The annual festival, Assam Tea Festival, is acclaimed by national and international authorities. It takes place all over Assam in November. It is centrally managed by the Assam Tourism Department, Government of Assam. Jorhat hosts major celebrations.
