Beautiful Sanctuaries & Parks in Orissa
1. Nandankanan Zoological Park:
It is 17 km from Cuttack and is a world famous wildlife sanctuary. It is home to a wide variety of wild animals and is one of the most famous zoos in India. The sanctuary is known for its care of 151 animals, including:
49 mammals
75 fish
27 Reptiles.
The zoo's main attraction is the animals, namely:
crocodiles,
blackbucks,
Chausinghas,
Hill Mynas,
Panthers and
Brahmin kites
It is well known that the Tiger Reserve houses and breeds a large number of tigers, as per the last census it was 327. Of these 10, 10 are white tigers.
2. Ushakothi Sanctuary:
Another famous sanctuary in Orissa is Yavatmal district. It is located at a distance of 48 km from Ushakothi. It is a popular tourist destination in Orissa. It is rich in fauna and flora. Its vegetation is diverse like arjuna, neem and alum. They also include every taxonomic category in the animal kingdom. It is home to the most famous:

3. Mahanadi Wildlife Division:
Located on the southern bank of the Mahanadi river, this sanctuary is famous for its wildlife. 4 sanctuaries are grouped together in this vast division. These are mostly covered by two adjacent districts, including:

Mahanadi Reserve Forest
It is similar to other sanctuaries of Orissa. The vast land provides a peaceful environment for animals to coexist.
4. Simlipal National Park:
The sanctuary is about 320 km from Bhubaneswar city and is a popular tourist destination in Orissa. Due to the increased tiger population, this tiger reserve has become very popular. What started as 17 tigers in the early 1970s grew to 98 by the late nineties. This land once belonged to Maharaja Mayurbhanj and was used for royal hunting.
5. Indira Gandhi Park:
This eco-park complex is a treasure trove of beautiful gardens, rare flowers, meadows, a small zoo, an aquarium and a toy museum. The Japanese garden, rose garden and fountain garden offer light and sound shows on some days. The park has a watch tower from where one can enjoy spectacular views of the city's skyline.
6. State Botanical Garden:
Bhubaneswar is proud to be the proud owner of the State Botanical Garden which is very close to the Nandankanan Zoological Park. They are well established in many gardens.
