Son Doong, which means "mountain river cave" in Vietnamese, is the largest cave in the world. It is located in Quang Binh Province, Vietnam. The cave was formed two to five million years ago by the erosion of limestone under the mountain by river water. The cave was first discovered by a local farmer in 1991 after fleeing a storm. He could not find his way back to the cave, so he returned to the cave with the help of British-led caveman Howard Limbert and his team. Son Doong Cave is 5.5 miles long, 650 feet wide and 500 feet tall. Son Doong Cave, complete with its forest and rivers, is a magnificent work of nature.
