Objectives

3. To bring members of the society closer to Krishna and thereby develop in them the belief that all souls are related to any quality of God (Krishna).
4. To promote and teach the Sankirtana Movement (the congregational chanting of the Name of God), as taught by Bhagavan Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu.
5. To create a sacred place of supernatural pastimes for members and the community.
6. They bring together members to share a simpler, natural way of living.
7. Publishing and distributing publications, books, and other works to create websites that support these purposes.

Mission

The International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON), was established in America by His Grace A.C. in 1966. It was officially established by Bhaktivedanta Swami. Sanatana Dharma is the only perspective that informs the ISKCON temple philosophy.

Sanatan is a Hebrew word that means "without beginning or end". It has been around since the beginning. It is the oldest belief system in the universe.

The Bhagavadgita (Song of God), and the Srimad Bhagavatam are the main scriptures. They tell the entire story of the Supreme Personality of Godhead Krishna.

Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu (1486-1532), through his beloved companion Nityananda Prabhu, and his six sutra friends, Vrindavana Sanatana Rupa Jiva, Raghunatha Dasa, Raghunatha Dasa, Raghunatha Dasa, and Raghunatha Dasa, had shared the principles and practices ISKCON with Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu.

Later, Bhaktivinoda Thakura (1838-1914), Bhaktisiddhanta Gosvami (1874-1937), and Srila Prabhupada (1996-1977) all spread Krishna consciousness in English throughout the world.

There have been many disciples in the history of ISKCON (Guru Shishyaparampara). Its legitimacy derives from its position among spiritual teachers and disciples.

There are four major disciple lines, and ISKCON is part of the Brahma Mahaprabhu-Gaudia lineage. It was founded in the 16th century by Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu.
