Shree Mahakali Mataji Temple Pavagadh Gujarat History & Timings


The Shree Mahakali temple or Pavagadh Tempe is located on Pavagadh Hill, 800m above sea level. It is close to Champaner which was once the capital of Gujarat. Shree Kalika Mata Temple is one of 51 Shakti Peethas, and the third in Gujarat. This place is where the right leg of Goddess Sati was found.

Numerous details about Shree Mahakali maa were described in Sanatan Dharma scriptures and Tantric scriptures.

Here, Goddess Kalika Mata is worshipped as Dakshina Kali through tantric rituals. Mahakali was once thought to be Lord Shiva's wife. Kali is the power that our Durga's anger can unleash. Mahakali Maa can be described as someone who destroys evil energy.

 

To reach the Pavagadh hilltop, devotees can take the rope route to Manchi. However, there are still 300 steps that must be climbed to see the Mahakali. This temple complex is part of the Champaner–Pavagadh Archaeological Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.



History of Mahakali Temple

Mythology says that our Pavagadh Temple was built in the 10th century BC. It has been rebuilt many times. Vishwamitra, the great sage, stayed on Pavagadh Hill and worshipped Kalika. It believed Vishwamitra Maharshi had erected Kali's idol.

Historical records indicate that Jaisin was a king from the Patai Dynasty who ruled over the Champaner kingdom located at the foot of the Pavagadh hill.

Champaner ruled a prosperous empire, and Mahakali, the goddess of Pavagadh, lived happily in peace. Navratri, the festival celebrating the sacred nine nights, and the worship of Ambe Devi was celebrated here.

The Garba is a celebration of devotion to the deity that includes the royal family as well as local residents. The goddess was impressed by their love and pure devotion. She disguised herself as a local woman to participate in Garaba along with her devotees.

King Jaisingh was delighted with her beauty and proposed to her. The goddess then warned the king, saying that she was just like his mother. The king wanted to make her his queen. The goddess was furious and cursed his kingdom to fall.

Later, Mughal King Muhammad Begada invaded Champaner to defeat King Jaisinha. The curse of the goddess caused the collapse of Champaner's flourishing Empire. The temple courtyard's inner sanctum Salvatore, which housed Mahakali Mata-Mukhvato's head, was painted in red.

The idol of Mahakali is located next to it, as well as the Bahucharama Machine. The shrine of Sadansha, a Muslim monk, is located next to the Mahakalima Temple. He believed that Goddess Mahakali was appeased when she decided to destroy the world.

Local legend says that Vishwamitra Maharshi built an idol of Kalika Devi in Pavagada. Locals believe that Vishwamitra Maharshi blessed the region.

Legend of Mahakali Temple

Pavagadh Temple, the main shrine to the deity, has been worshipped ever since the pre-Vedic era. According to the Markandeya Purana, Sati (the daughter of King Daksh Prajapati) was a great devotee to Lord Shiva and did intense penance to please him.

Lord Shiva finally agreed to her marriage. However, Daksha Raju wasn't happy with the marriage. Daksha, to insult Shiva, performed Yagya. He invited all the gods as well as famous people other than Sati and Shiva. Sati decided that she would confront her father in Yagya.

Lord Shiva tried to stop Sati from doing so, but Yaga accepted her. King Daksh refused to welcome her and did not use the occasion to insult Shiva and God in front of all the prominent people.

Sati Devi was unable to bear the humiliation of jumping into Yagya’s sacred pit. Lord Shiva was in great pain and anger after he received this information. Bhadrakali and Veerabhadra were created by Lord Shiva. They have additional superpowers, and the command to kill Daksh.

Lord Shiva then took Sati, her fiery body, and made a statement in the form of Tandava (the dance form of destruction), which was the epic Tandava. Others gods and people were worried about the safety and well-being of the whole universe and asked Lord Vishnu for his assistance.

Vishnu used Sudarshan Chakra to mutilate the body of Goddess Sati. Legend has it that the Ambaji Temple was located at the place where Goddess Sati's heart fell. The temple is therefore one of the major Shaki Peethas and Siddha Peethas of the 51 Shakti Peethas.

Pavagadh, one of Gujarat's most important shrines, is visited by devotees of Goddess Mahakali throughout the year. The best time to visit Chaitra Navratri or Ashwini Navratri is on the eighth day of Chaitra Sood. The devotee can also perform Navchandi Yaga as other karmas based upon their wishes.

Sri Mahakalika Trust has a new state-of-the-art temple complex. The three-story temple complex, known as 'Bhavyati Bhavya', will be constructed. The Pavagadh temple was built on an area of 35,000 square feet. It is the first of its kind in India.

Yagnashala The Mahakalika Machine is the most powerful instrument to transmit the divine energy from Mahakalika Devi. This shrine was built on the principles and design of the Mahakali machine.

Annashetra The Annashetra complex was built according to the design and principles of Sri Yantra. The SR machine is composed of nine interconnected triangles and a dot at its center. These triangles are the cosmos as well as the human body.

Garden Complex This temple complex features a 100K square foot garden that combines flora with fauna.

Multiplex Complex This complex is located between the Pavagadh Plateau and n flora or fauna. A film about the significance and origins of the epic will be shown at the theatre. It is based on Hindu scriptures.

Lake Complex At Pavagada, there was a beautiful lake called Dhudia Talao. The idol of Lord Shiva, standing 51 feet high, is located in the middle of the lake. This is the first time that Mahakali and Mahakali have lived together in the country.

The laser shows, which feature 3D projections and music of Shiva hymns or mantras, keep devotees riveted. With a capacity of 500 people, the new dining hall will offer clean, satvik-free food and water for all Mahakalika Temple devotees.
